The NBPNP — Business Immigration Stream is built for experienced entrepreneurs who will establish, purchase, or partner in a New Brunswick business. Candidates typically start on a work permit to launch and operate their venture and, after meeting their Business Performance Agreement, may be nominated for permanent residence.

Administered by New Brunswick’s Department of Post-Secondary Education, Training and Labour, the stream targets entrepreneurs who bring capital, innovation, and local jobs to the province.

Eligibility & Investment Requirements

  • Net worth: minimum CAD 500,000 verified by a province-approved third-party accounting firm
  • Investment: minimum CAD 150,000 in an eligible NB business
  • Ownership: at least 33.3% (or CAD 1,000,000 investment for a smaller share)
  • Experience: ≥ 3 years business ownership or ≥ 5 years senior management in the last 10 years
  • Age: 21–59; Education: high-school diploma or higher
  • Language: CLB/NCLC 5 (English or French)
  • Residency & management: live in NB and actively manage the business
  • Exploratory visit: required before submitting an EOI

How to Apply — NBPNP Business Immigration

  1. Complete an exploratory visit to New Brunswick.
  2. Submit an Expression of Interest (EOI) with your business concept.
  3. Upon selection, file a full application and third-party net-worth verification.
  4. Attend an interview if invited.
  5. Sign the Business Performance Agreement and obtain a work-permit support letter.
  6. Apply to IRCC for a work permit and establish the business in NB.
  7. After meeting all terms (investment, jobs, operations), apply for nomination and then permanent residence.
